Stitching update

I was right. I can say that quite a bit actually. Not that I'm right all the time mind you, I have been so, so wrong about people in the romance department for example. But what I'm right about this time was the statement I made in my last confession about probably not stitching, yet reading.

I did take stitching with me on vacation. Didn't pick it up once. I had the opportunity a few times, but the first was oh so easy to just sit there and do nothing. The others, well, I used up those times reading.

The day after we got home I spent the whole thing reading. I had picked up the latest Harry Potter book and basically downed the whole thing in one gulp. But I made it up the next day by stitching the whole day. (That was Friday.) I also made it a point to stitch on Saturday and Sunday too. I've picked up my stitching almost every day since. Even though it's been hot to the point of being brain-dead in the heat, then I stand outside in the (somewhat)cooling night air and water all the poor plants around my house including the lawn which could only be described as "crunchy". (Seriously, I don't have automatic sprinklers and you can hear it crunch when you walk on it.)

So basically my stitching time has dwindled down to about an hour a day between the time I come in from watering and heading for bed. (Which means writing in my journal for a good 20 minutes before I even try to go to sleep.)

All the above long story made short, I've made progress on my Castle of which there is a picture in my webshots photo album.

Confession:

Once again I have stitched very little to none this week. Pretty much everything has just sat there. Although I did put one length of thread into DD's letter "B" but that was pretty much it. I'm busy - getting ready for faire, getting ready for vacation, getting the house ready to leave it for a week, and just general life stuff.

I will be taking stitching with me this weekend/on this trip but I'm going to be busy and then I'm going to buy a book so I may be reading instead of stitching. I'll let you know when I get back.

Weekend Stitching

I didn't get much stitching done this weekend, but I did find time to get a little bit in. I need to go to the TWBB and post my progress, I need to get a picture too.

Ok, the Castle stitch-along was this weekend. I've decided that he's my focal piece since I took him off the unwieldy scroll bars and put him on a set of q-snaps. Much easier to deal with! This weekend I realized that I'd finished the backstitching on the top half of this piece! This is an amazing feat considering that I've been working on him for so long. This has given me renewed determination to get him finished. As for the missing floss colors, well, I've decided that I'll pull them out of my stash as I come upon a missing color. As for reorganizing my kitted floss, I've decided against it. I realized why I put the floss in baggies to begin with. I hate rewinding bits of floss back on a bobbin when I have to take it off again in just a few minutes in order to blend one strand with another color! So I will just deal with it until I'm finished. Then I will wind the usable stuff onto bobbins that will go back into the stash. How long will that be? Hopefully much shorter than the first half took to finish.

Stitching Status

Another week of very little stitching. It was a bit better than last week, but very little time was found. I worked on the letter "B" over the weekend and have since picked up Castle twice. I do plan to get in more time on Castle as the SAL is this weekend. It's looking better and better. I'm finding that I really don't like it on the scroll bars and plan to take it off tonight. I want it on the larger q-snaps that I have, but it fits Emerald Mermaid perfectly. And as I pick this one up and set it down for long periods of time I don't want to mess up the system. Maybe I should look for more q-snaps tomorrow. You see, I'm taking in my letter "S" to the State Fair for judging next week so I'll be in the area for the lns. Can't pass up the opportunity for shopping! Besides, I can get the last installment for my secret stitcher and get that out of the way.

I must apologize...

There hasn't been a confession in days because, well, I haven't actually been stitching. I picked up something new and put about a dozen or two stitches in it before losing interest. I picked up a piece in the rotation (M Designs letter "B") and put in one thread length. Just been a bit too busy/tired to do much of anything. Luckily the model I was worried about is done and I'm still waiting for instructions on the other one.

Good news, the finished model arrived back at the designer's and may the payment commence!

I'd like to get back in the groove but things have been just too strange lately. This weekend I have to get my letter "S" back from the framer's so I can take it to the State Fair for judging this weekend. Other than that, I'll be getting ready to go to faire/on vacation a week from Thursday. And while I will take stitching with me, I don't think a lot will get done.

Note to self: must research Los Angeles area needlework stores.
