August 2013
It's been a busy summer! -It took a month to get the new model in (waiting for fabric to arrive) and as usual I started it right away. During that month I got quite a bit done on Blue Dragon and a good start on my HAED. However, the end of June was miserably hot through the beginning of July. I admit there wasn't anything motivating me to pick up a needle. Then we were out of town and models are not something I take traveling. Plus it felt like I was stuck, like I wasn't making any progress. Once I passed a certain point it seemed like I was getting a lot done. Which should have been the opposite considering all the confetti. And I just finished a page on Saturday night! But now it feels like I'm trudging again. It looks great already so I know it's going to look really good when I get done with it, and I'm really looking forward to being done. Confetti is just not my thing. -About once a week now I put a needle's worth of thread into my HAED. It's for me and I know it's going to take a long time to get it done so I don't mind it going slow. -I've decided to rotate through my UFO's on a monthly basis. I kept July's project (freeibe Heart) through August thinking I could get a finish. However, I have no motivation to get this done therefore I haven't been working on it a lot. Makes me wonder if I shouldn't pull out blue dragon again. But there are lots more on the list so I'll pick a new one next week when I get home from the weekend. -On the crochet front - I took apart the top I was making. I was finally honest with myself that it probably wasn't going to be worn even if I ever did get it finished. So I took it apart and saved the yarn to make something else that I would wear. I found a tunic that I liked so I got started on that. I wasn't interpreting the pattern correctly and it wasn't turning out like I pictured. So I took that one back down to the first steps and found another pattern that should get me to where I want to be. (Another two patterns actually.) The dress has been put on hold. I think I'll try to work on that over the winter and have it ready for spring. (And who believes that one?) -The ruana was coming along nicely. Every time I got low on yarn I'd just go to Walmart to get more. Until they ran out! I went for weeks without yarn on this project because I couldn't find it anywhere. I went to 3 different Walmarts, Michaels, and Joann's and NOBODY HAD IT. Finally somewhere around 3-4 weeks later my local Walmart had replenished their supply (I didn't want to buy it online then have to pay for shipping.) so I bought 2 skeins to hopefully finish this off. Of course it's been too miserably hot to crochet with what is effectively a huge blanket on my lap so it's been postponed for a while. -My husband needed to go to Hobby Lobby for a project of his and of course I had to go with him. I found the "I Love This Wool" in a color called "grapevine" and I couldn't resist. I'm going to make this into a little chevron bag and then I'm going to felt it! A gift for my niece I think. I know she'll like the colors!
